MINI ART FOUNDATION - £105

Looking to learn to draw or ready to improve your art skills?

This 4 x session evening course goes back to basics, covering the essentials from measuring in drawing to creating convincing tones and textures and working with colour. We will work in different mediums from charcoal to painting, working through still life and landscapes and culminating in a portrait session with a model. It’s a great foundation designed to boost your art skills and build your confidence week by week.

WEEK 1: Drawing basics – Working in pencil and charcoal, we’ll be making a couple of different studies from life. Learn how to really look and how to measure to get accurate shapes and proportions.
WEEK 2: Texture and tone – Learn how to make objects look 3-dimensional using light and shade plus we explore mark-making as a way to describe texture and for bringing an expressive
quality to our drawings.
WEEK 3: Painting a landscape – We move into paint and colour, learning how to mix colours, balance tones and we’ll explore different ways to apply paint to create an expressive landscape.
WEEK 4: Drawing or painting a portrait – Working from a life model, use the skills you’ve learned to create a convincing head and likeness.
Each session is 2.5hours and all materials are supplied. We work in small groups and beginners are very welcome.

Tea, coffee and chocolate included.

Paint My Pooch (or any other pet!) -  £35

This fun portrait session uses simple trace and transfer techniques to get a pic of your pet on to canvas then we’ll explore ways to paint in acrylic to create a personal pet portrait.
From flat colours for a modern graphic look to loose sketchy and just a little but scruffy ways to capture hairy pets, the aim is to have fun and get a bit of character on to canvas.
This is a great all-levels class and beginners are very welcome. An intro on how to use the paint and basic colour-mixing is included, and we supply all paints and canvases.

Please email the photo you’d like to paint from in advance so we can do a bit of prep for you.

Tea, coffee and chocolate included.

Facebook Review

'Had a wonderful relaxing evening at the Plant Life in Watercolour class today. I have not done any art since I was at school (many years ago) but that didn’t matter at all. Everyone made me feel very welcome and there was lots of encouragement and I learnt lots about watercolour painting. Will definitely be booking onto more classes. Highly recommend!' -Kerry
