Art Classes

Paint My Pooch - £35

This fun portrait session uses simple trace and transfer techniques to get a pic of your pet on to canvas then we’ll explore ways to paint in acrylic to create a personal pet portrait.
From flat colours for a modern graphic look to loose sketchy and just a little but scruffy ways to capture hairy pets, the aim is to have fun and get a bit of character on to canvas.
This is a great all-levels class and beginners are very welcome.
An intro on how to use the paint and basic colour-mixing is included, and we supply all paints and canvases.
Please email the photo you’d like to paint from in advance so we can do a bit of prep for you.

Mini Art Foundation - £105

We’ve revamped our popular Mini Art Foundation for spring 25 with a fresh new look to suit all levels. Whether you’re a beginner or you’re experienced and want to extend your skills, this one’s for you!

Week 1 – Brush up on drawing with a seasonal still life. We look at line, shading and tone and experiment with pencil and charcoal and the exciting marks we can make with both.
Week 2 – Portraits. Working from photos (supplied) we look at proportions and what makes a likeness. This is a fun and lively session with the chance to draw a self-portrait from life if you wish.
Week 3 – Colour. Out come the acrylic paints and we’ll look at how to mix colours. We’ll cover some basic colour theory and paint some simple objects. There is plenty of time to get to know the paint if it’s new to you or you can dive deeper into tone and mark-making if you want more.
Week 4 – Painting. Bringing together everything learned over the past 3 sessions we end with either a painted landscape or a portrait – it’s up to you!

This course is based on the nuts and bolts principles taught at art school and is designed to help you move towards making the art that you want to make. Small friendly groups mean there is time for one-to-one guidance and all materials and refreshments are provided.

'Had a wonderful relaxing evening at the Plant Life in Watercolour class today. I have not done any art since I was at school (many years ago) but that didn’t matter at all. Everyone made me feel very welcome and there was lots of encouragement and I learnt lots about watercolour painting. Will definitely be booking onto more classes. Highly recommend!' -Kerry
